Hi, I’m Alfonso, a food photographer, stylist, and recipe developer based in the DC area. Originally from Peru, I’ve been on a creative journey with food for as long as I can remember and have always had a deep connection to food and culture—something that’s shaped both my personal life and my work.
My love for cooking started back in 2001, when my parents sent me and my brother to a kids’ cooking camp (thanks, Mom and Dad!). Since then, I’ve been hooked on the magic of cooking, whether it’s experimenting with new flavors or creating dishes that bring people together.
Photography came into my life in high school and quickly became another creative outlet. By 2018, with some luck and the help from my friend Toni Okamoto, I turned my love for food and photography into a career, and I haven’t looked back since.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working on a variety of exciting projects, including photographing the cookbook Plant-Based on a Budget - Quick and Easy, and I’m always thrilled to bring my clients’ visions to life. I take pride in adjusting my style to match the unique branding and aesthetic of each project—whether it’s clean and minimalist, bold and vibrant, or cozy and rustic.
When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll likely find me in the kitchen with my 2-year-old son, cooking up something delicious (he’s an eager little helper!). We also grow our own veggies and herbs in our garden, which inspires much of my cooking and styling. For me, food is more than just nourishment—it’s a way to connect, create, and show love.
If you’re looking for mouthwatering photography and recipe development that tells your brand's story, I’d love to connect and collaborate with you!
Let's get in touch!
